“Talk-About” is all about , well, talking! Children tell us that communicating face-to-face is hard for them. Not surprisingly they express difficulities talking to their teachers and their parents. What is surprising, however, is that the number one difficulty they express comes when they are communicating with their peers!
Working with children in all socio-economic communities, we teach essential, relevant communication and social skills in a series of workshops. The kids have fun, learn to articulate their thoughts, listen, and solve problems. They consistently express how important it is to be learning and practicing these skills.
As part of our program we also develop and mentor youth leaders to work with us as student mentors. These mentors are college age, have completed the “Talk-About” curriculum as well as mentor training.
We are honored to be able to offfer Dr. Taibi Kahler’s Process Communication Model and curriculum for enhancing the communications of parents, caregivers, mentors and educators. This training helps those that work with children to recognize the communication preferences of individual children, and understand how to truly reach and teach every child.
